Inclusive Innovation Award winners
Innovate UK’s Inclusive Innovation Award funds and supports a diverse range of businesses who are developing products, technologies and services that champion accessibility and inclusion.
We define an ‘inclusive innovation’ as one that has been designed and developed with diversity, equality and inclusion in mind. These innovations are either purposefully designed for the broadest range of users or they offer specific solutions for people who are usually excluded.
The Inclusive Innovation Award celebrates micro, small or medium-sized enterprises from across the UK who have a track record in developing inclusive innovations.
In 2023, 50 winners were selected from over 400 applicants. Each winner receives a £50,000 grant to scale up an existing innovation or develop new inclusive products, processes, technologies or services.
The inspiring innovations include:
- A smart glove that recognises sign language gestures and translates them into speech
- Energy clubs enabling small communities to benefit from local renewable energy sources
- AI-powered revision app supporting exam preparation for all learners, with new features for special educational needs or disability (SEND) students
